The BRC was established by parents in 1978 to promote Barker College rugby at all levels.
The Barker Head Master, Dr Rod Kefford, is the BRC Patron and has encouraged the club in its support of rugby at Barker. Barker College has a proud record of achievement in rugby, particularly in recent years having won the CAS competition in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and winning the NSW Waratah Shield – a competition open to all schools in NSW – in 2006 after being runners up in 2005.
A number of former pupils have achieved higher rugby honours, including Wallabies Ben Darwin and Cameron Sheppard and most recently Jared Barry and Ben Whittaker who joined Super 14 franchises straight from school. One of the aims of the BRC is to promote a continuation of this outstanding record.
